Trivets!

I have also been plugging away at making some quilted trivets! This was a new item that I have not made before and utilized lined batting to prevent heat transfer. I used a charm pack of "The Ladies Stitching Club" by Oliver and S for Moda. The Backing fabric for them is random Fat quarter pieces from by stash. I started by using the Pattern at the Moda Bake Shop called Herringbone Hot Pads.   (see the 2nd picture below). Then I just had some fun piecing different designs. The first one is quilted using random straight lines.

Barcelona Quilt Bound

I finally put the binding on my Barcelona Quilt. I first posted about it in July 2014. It was the first quilt top that I ever put together. I followed the "Double Slice Layer Cake" YouTube tutorial from Jenny Doan of the Missouri Star Quilt Company. I was amazed how easy the blocks were to put together. I also love the "Barcelona" fabric from Moda.

I learned a lot during this whole process. I think the most important thing I learned is that no one is going to notice if my seams match except me. :) I also learned that a good sewing machine is key to a great binding. I love my PFAFF with integrated dual feed. It acts like a walking foot without having to put a walking foot on. I zig zag stiched the binding on this one because I plan on using the quilt as a bed spread on one of our guest beds and it will be laundered frequently.

Feb SFS 2015-A Check-in

Stitch from stash 2015-A: - Check-in

I am again taking part in the Stitch from my Stash SAL. This year it is split into 2 sessions and we are getting credit for finishes. Here is my February Check in:

Month: February
Spent: $0.00
Earned:$0.00
Carryover to March: $66.00

I worked on a large variety of crafts this month including a few finishes in the quilting and knitting department but no stitching finishes yet. I am hoping to get an ornament finished this week.

I also used the following in all crafts:
1000g of cotton yarn on dishrags
4 yds of fabric for quilting.

Here is my progress on 99 - the first 3 shelves are complete.
I spent the bulk of this month on my craft room. Pictures will come in another post.

Happy Stitching everyone!

Zig-a-Zag Table Runner Complete

I finished the grey flowered Zig-a-Zag Table runner this week. I wanted to make sure all the stitching was completed on it prior to work being done on my new craft room. I quilted in the ditch and bound it by folding the backing fabric over to the front. All of the fabric was from my stash so its even more gratifying that it is completed.

WIPocalypse Check-in: February 2015

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time for the next check-in for WIPocalypse. I was able to work on three of the projects that are on the list on the left side of this page.

1.) Santa's Office - This was a new start for me over the holidays that I had kitted up for over a year.  Between the initial check-in and now, I added some more stitching to his bag(about 100 stitches) but of Course I forgot to take an updated picture :( here is where he was on the January check-in.

2.) 99 - this was a new start since the January Check-in. I took 2 progress pics:
99 - After 1 hour of stitching
99 - progress as of January 16th
I still have this one on the frames and will continue to work it until the first three shelves are completed.

3.) Flower cards - These have been a WIP for going on 2 years. I have decided that this is the year that they get completed as I am tired of knowing they are 3/4's completed. When I checked-in for January, they were here:
Flower cards - Susan Bates  - January Check-in
I have spent some solid time on these and finished the 4 that were almost completely stitched (including Backstitch) and continued working on the other 2.

I feel like I made some great progress on some WIPs.

Happy Stitching Everyone!

January Finishes!

I figured it would be nice for me to summarize the finishes I completed in January!

Baby Blanket

Hitchiker Shawlette
I also finished 11 dishrags! Since they are all pictured separately, you will need to look at older posts for that. I also completed 2 new ornaments and finished the NOEL ornament.

Finally, I finished 1 Christmas Table Runner:
All in all, a great month!
February will be all about finishing my craft room! posts will be forthcoming!

Happy Stitching Everyone!
