Update and Happy Dance!

So it seems like my posting is about once a week. I am pretty happy with that frequency with my working alot on my daily job as an engineer/scientist.

I have some progress to show on "The Lady and the Flag"

The Lady and the Flag
Progress as of 9/29/2013
I added a little more to the blue in the flag and some more to the flowers that she is holding in her hands.

I also worked on the MOD coasters and have almost completed the cross stitching!
I did have to put these away as holding the plastic canvas without a hoop to support it was wreaking havoc on my hands. I am hoping to have them complete by Christmas this year :)

I did have a happy dance this weekend as well! I completed the Wristlets I was making using Plymouth Yarns and a pattern I found on the Purl Soho Website: Whit's Knits Ribbed Hand Warmers . I loved the pattern. It was such an easy pattern to knit so I will be making more.

Finally, I did cast on and complete the Border Rows for 1 of the 3 blankets that I have ready to be made. It is using a cranberry and Khaki color combination with a seed stitch border.

Overall, it was a productive week.

The goals for the upcoming week:
1.) Make more progress on "The Lady and the Flag"
2.) Get to the halfway point on the Blanket I recently cast on.

Happy Stitching!!!

Not one but TWO happy dances!

I realized it has been almost 2 weeks since I blogged last but in that time, I have completed 2 major WIPs.

First, the baby blanket for my niece was completed on 9/8/2013 and sent off for delivery. Here it is in its final form.

It's final dimensions were 40" x 40". The only yarn that was bought for this blanket and not taken out of my stash was the teal-blue color as it was what matched the bedding my sister-in-law picked out. :)

My niece is healthy and happily sleeping at home so all is good on that front. The blanket was delivered  the day after they got home from the hospital. The speed knitting of the last half of the blanket was worth the pain in my hands.

Second on the happy dance train: I COMPLETED THE BUTTERFLY CUSHION!!!! I am so happy that this one is complete. I was getting tired stitching the solid blocks of color.  Here it is just out of the frame.

Butterfly Cushion
3 over 2, DMC floss
completed - 9/15/2013
So the past two weeks have been a productive week all in all. I am flying through the birth announcement for my niece and should have that completed in the next few days.

Happy stitching this week!

Weekend Progress and Goals for September

First and foremost, I would like to thank those of you that have left me comments and are following this blog. It does my heart good to know that someone besides myself enjoys the projects I work on.

This past week was pretty much a bust from a crafting perspective as my real life and real job seemed to take over. This weekend on the other hand was very productive. I made major progress on the blanket for my soon to be born niece.

I added the rest of the cream, all the beige, mixed beige/cream, and started the cream rows. All in all it was about 40 rows or so. My goal is to finish this blanket this weekend to box up and send for the baby's arrival.

I also finished the Black outline of the Butterfly cushion! I am so happy to have that chore behind me.
I also started adding in the colors :) This makes me very happy.

I also started cutting the pieces of fabric to attempt English paper piecing. Once I get some progress, I will take a few pictures for the blog.

All of this productivity inspired me to set stitchy goals for September.

So my goals for September:
1.) Complete blanket for Niece
2.) Complete Birth Announcement for Niece
3.) Complete Butterfly cushion
4.) Make some sort of progress on "The Lady and the Flag"
5.) Complete placemats for Mom
6.) Complete 3 receiving blankets that are cut and pinned.

I also forgot to take a picture of my ORTs and will need to do that this week sometime.

Happy stitching.
